Don't look up - the sky is falling - Recoil has been renewed, revisited, and revamped. My good friend from the Great White North has redesigned his home - go check it out. I'll have more goodness later.

While I can't recommend following their credo to the letter, I would recommend checking out the Scorched Earth Party's agenda on one of those days when you're an inch away from pulling up stakes and heading to the rocky crag in Utah. Don't forget to get a good stock of lead pipes ..

Other than that, I've been working, messing around on this blazing fast system I squeezed out of my contracting company, and trying to figure out how to wire my house with the least amount of pain. I've got to start by picking up a damn 8-port hub, and then I'm gonna spend a few hours up to my eyes in fiberglass insulation - woo-hoo. When I finally get the video card that I ordered with this system, I'll be hitting the mapping thing again. I've got a few ideas I want to try out, and I'd still like to go back and hammer the kinks out of the Arrakeen series. We'll see what happens. More later ...

Poopy .. missed a few updates here. Finally snagged a copy of Quake III Team Arena - I've gotta say that the Quake III engine never looked so good. I remember people bitching about paying $20 for a "few add-on levels from id" - shut the hell up. Compared to the mass-produced barf that was Unreal Tournament, these ten or so maps from id should be hung in the Louvre. I'm enjoying the hell out of Harvester, having just wandered up to the first of the "Terrain" maps, Overdose. Having done a few Quake III maps, it's impressive to see the Quake III engine stretched like this. There are some tricks involved, but wide-open maps like this weren't possible when I was working with Radiant. Just plain cool ...

On other fronts, I'm only days away from getting three new machines to work with - squeezing them out of a training account from work. That's going to finally give me enough machines to work on an actual Windows 2000 domain - my wife and kids are gonna hate me. I hate to make the concession, but I'm afraid I'm either going to have to fall back to Windows 98SE, or make the jump to XP. My kids just don't wanna hear that their favorite game won't run under 2000. Blecch.

More later, but for now I'm gonna go get some fragging done ...

Okey ... dokey. Archived all the old shit, so you folks on skinny pipes don't have to wait for all the chewy goodness you can stand. Check the mp3 link for goodies. A bit of research indicates that this might be a better way to do business with the world. More to come, but we'll see how this part of it goes.

Fired up Netscape Navigator on a Linux box and found out that folks on that side of the fence are probably going blind trying to read my site ... doh! For anyone who's still using 4.77, I apologize - I'll be doing some tuning to make things a bit more palatable for you soon. I have to say that the KDE Konqueror web browser did a wonderful job of rendering up my site, and certainly seems more solid that the current release of Netscape.

On the other things in life ... there are few things more delicious than an super sharp, dry, white cheddar, followed by a fine beer, something like New Belgium's Fat Tire Amber Ale. I can highly recommend everything from their stable with no reservation - try some of the 1554 Brussels Style Black Ale with your next medium-rare steak, or the Sunshine Wheat Beer with a tangy pastrami, swiss, and German mustard on chewy dark rye bread sandwich. Hungry?

JOY! It's BACK! Lost Souls is up and rolling again, ready to expose the world to Clive and all his magic. I'd feared it would become another of those perpetually under construction sites that seem to straggle along, limping to an ignominous death in obscurity. Enter and enjoy ...

On the goofy front, check out this, and a little pic that I'd like to share:

Why you should get a cable connection ...

Groovin' ... more later.
