I've got a new part-time job - my boss over at Kingpin Post, Überdroog, is taking a vacation, so I've got a handful of fun to take care of over there. Should be a learning experience, at the very least ;).
In Sin-related news, the PEZ clan's LAN party over last weekend appears to have been a complete success! Head on over to this thread at the Ritualistic forums, and hit that link for a 22MB video in RealMedia format. It's got all sorts of weirdness from the dark halls of Origin, from the Oreo and Mountain Dew binge pile, to someone's seriously infected big toe.
Kingpin? Well, I finally bummed a copy from a friend, and I have to say that online Kingpin deathmatch beats Sin in the gameplay department in every area except the maps, and the community. I doubt I'll encounter a community as cool to play with as the one I found in Sin, but the game itself? Whew. Ferociously fast, gorgeous, realistic, but not too much so, a 10 out of 10 for Xatrix. And I haven't even been able to try out the Bagman maps yet.
More coffee is on the way, but for today, I've been enjoying a nice big pitcher of iced Folger's. It's just too damn hot down here in Texas to drink a steaming mug of coffee at noon.
I gave up on the WickedGL - too much pain and no real gain for it. With the exception of Sin (which seems to be having issues with my TNT drivers suddenly, and for no discernible reason), I just can't stand to look at the nastiness of my Voodoo II compared to my TNT. It's probably entirely subjective and imaginary, but Kingpin and Quake 3 on my Voodoo II look like crap compared to my TNT card. Period. It'll still get used for games like Powerslide, and Croc, but for OpenGL and Direct3D, my TNT is here to stay. At least until I have to decide between the NV10 and the Voodoo 4.
More eventually.

Well, not a whole lot of news today. Tried out the new WickedGL - no luck. I'm going to b0rk around with it a bit, but after seeing the horrific visual quality on the menus and in-game, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. Everything runs so nice on my TNT.
If something interesting comes up, I'll update later. I'm going to be spending the day working on my A+ certification for desktop hardware - show me the money!

Ah, back at work, and wishing I was having my toenails pulled off instead. Had a decent week off, although I had to end it with getting a third of my paycheck. Yeah, for the fourth frigging week in a row, my contracting agency has b0rked my dinero. I'm currently looking for employment as . . . a gardener. That's right - a lawn-maintenance engineer. For $40,000 a year, I'll keep your hedges and grass trimmed, fertilize and water the lawn, and keep all your potted plants in little plant heaven. Just get me the hell out of here!
Coffee. Folger's today, Starbuck's all week. An excellent cup this morning, and after a week at home, with real coffee, I'm back to the shit that they serve here. Tastes similar to boiled mud, and coats your tongue with a nice brown slime. Yum.
Rediscovered some great music this week: Opiate by Tool and Vulgar Display of Power by Pantera (caveat: the Pantera fan page is bleeding-edge, rednecks-under-the-influence-of-spleef, spewed-forth-in-haste stuff - don't say I didn't warn you).
Überdroog has suffered a near fatal breakdown this week, hopefully being fixed today - the loss of a CDROM drive. Having had this happen to my machine, I can feel his pain. However, he hasn't lost his sense of humor.
Well, I'm off to raise hell with my employers - if you're bored, take a look around. I'll be back later.
Back again. Added another page, but I'm not telling you where I hid the link. I will give you a strong hint - I've been playing with an excellent little image-mapping program. Enjoy!

A new day, a new page. If you have a submission for posting, send it on in.
Not a whole lot going on in my world today. Just hanging out at work, hoping the night goes real quick. There are few things that suck worse than sitting on your ass for twelve hours straight with a bunch of people you don't really want to talk to.
More when I have some.

Once again, the other half of my twisted mind, Überdroog, has solved a dilemma. Those who have followed my straggling progress know that I have been suffering through an undefinable craving, slowly driving me insane (well, more insane). The solution: Chex Mix. I'd tried all the other snacks, you know the ones - Cheetos, Fritos, Gardetto's Snack Mix (a close call, but just not quite there). Only the original, classic, salty, crunchy, distinctly Chex flavor could save me - and as Über pointed out, they even make it in a box now, so you don't have to wait for those critical thirty minutes of prep time like you used to. Ahhhhhhh.
I've got to stop eating so damn much. Next thing you know, it's time for the Ring-Dings and Twinkies. Aaaagck. Coffee, that's what I need, yeah, that's it. Speaking of, how about coffee-flavored milk? Tom Thumb grocery stores in the Metroplex sell a brand called Promised Land Dairy, in returnable glass bottles no less. This stuff is about as thick as a melted milkshake. Lactose intolerant? Ph33r this.
I will make every effort to update the beer page soon. One thing I've discovered about the really good breweries (with the exception of Guinness, of course), is that few of them (especially the German ones) have any sort of Web presence. SO, it's a bit difficult to link you to them directly. I mean, how can you expect monks living in a Trappist abbey to have a website?
:: begin rant ::
I was however interested to find the Vatican website. It's just as sad to see massive, obviously expensive webpages for huge organizations with misspellings and grammatical errors as it is to find them on Jimmy Fred Duncan's page for his dog Shepley, you know? It 'tis offensive to the eye and senses, in my opinion. If you're going to take the time to build a website, don't advertise your laziness and ignorance, please!
:: end of rant ::
Now that I've taken on the Catholic Church, let's move to other things. Quick, before I get struck by lightning or something.
Haven't done any gaming in the last few days - I have been sleeping around ten hours per day. That's about the only thing to do when it gets over 100° F here in Dallas. I can't wait for October.
Oops. One more thing. Found a great Shoutcast! server for fans of old school Metallica, with a live request script running on the home page. Check out Mungus Radio, and tune in the Metallica channel. It's all good.
Writing soon. Take it easy out there.

Well, it's been nearly a week and a half since I updated this thing. Busy, busy, busy. Coffee? Starbucks Sumatra, fresh ground, double strength. Oh wow.
Updated several pages around the site, so take a peek. The cinema page has been finished (for now) and I tossed in a couple of links on the musica page. Now for important news.
Someone send me some winning lottery numbers! Better yet, a winning lottery ticket, preferably for at least four million dollars. I hate having to work for a living! Why? The PEZ clan has busted out all the stops and set up a LAN party for next weekend (August 14th and 15th) in Austin, Texas. SinCon '99 is going to be a very cool happening . . . and I have to work. Bleccch. However, if you are off and available, head over to their webpage for information and contacts.
News of the Kingpin patch, per Ridah's Beta Patch Testing page - up to 1.16, with some relatively major improvements included. The man also has posted that he has a testing server running, per his .plan file from a few days ago. Check out the details.
Working on documentation for the Wages of Sin Capture the Flag mod being put out by Carl G at 2015. This is going to be a great mod for LAN play - the netcode may be a bit iffy.
My main man Überdroog has finally released another installation of The Korova Hotel, the ever expanding compendium of all things Über. Check it out - there's a little link over there to the right, and down a bit.
Spent last weekend in Boerne, Texas, just north of San Antonio, visiting my sister and her husband. The Guadalupe River is amazing, especially for those of us who are used to closing the car windows and driving by the Trinity as fast as possible. Next trip, the coast.
At some point over the last few weeks, I ran into Shankster and Strabo on a Sin server, and got invited over for some Rocket Arena. Details about Shankster's servers are available here. Very cool mod, and if you are looking for a change of pace in your deathmatching for Sin, go grab the maps and hit the servers. Very nicely done, thanks to RiEvEr and Bass2496, as well as all the mappers who've released new maps. And I love dueling with spearguns.
A new form of crack has hit the streets - Kyodai Mahjongg. Dear God, save us from the addiction of shuffling those damn tiles around - I can't stop it. It's like when I was nineteen and had my tonsils out. The only thing I could concentrate on through the Tylenol 4 was Nintendo Tetris. I got to the point where I dreamed of those bleeping blocks.
Well, that's it for today. I've got a little picture to post up tomorrow, but I don't have it handy, so you'll just have to wait.
