Boo-yah! It's done - we got the house. Now I've got to figure out how to pay for it ..
It's Wormwood! Wait, it's Annwn: Caer Cerddorion! My buddy John is waffling ;). Should be an impressive site when he gets it running - keep checking back.
Rocket Arena 3 is en route to a server near you - this should be one of the best mods for Quake III to come out this year. The screenshots of the maps are enough to give you a serious case of the chills. Excellent!
The box is up and running - Win98SE, Win2K, WinNT 4.0 SP6, and RedHat Linux 6.1, all happily co-existing on my old machine. Now I just have to learn how to break 'em all and fix 'em again. Also gave BeOS a try - intriguing, but a serious lack of apps and driver support seems to be a *big* Achilles heel for this one. Running my desktop at 60Hz and 1024X768 grayscale makes my eyes bleed.
The newest Red Hot Chili Peppers album, Californication - great stuff, harkening back to the days of Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Mother's Milk. I just wasn't all that impressed by One Hot Minute - it lacked the energy and fire of their previous stuff. That seems to be back, and I'm pretty sure that it's Frusciante who's got it - Navarro just wasn't the right guitarist to work with Flea and Chad Smith. And the mellow stuff works as well - check out the album closer, "Road Tripping". Gorgeous ..

Not much new going on, but I did update the cinema page. Also, posted a link to the updated Arrakeen Delta 2 map. Managed to put in a few fixes, so you can actually grab some items using the jump pads - hell, Xaero will even use 'em now, giving you yet another shot at railing him into eternity.
Other than that, found an excellent site for anyone who's trying to run a network, especially sharing an internet connection, like I'm trying to do with my SWBell DSL connection. Check out this page - very good stuff.
Last, but not least, Jihad/Uberdroog has swung back into action with Recoil - check it out, and maybe he'll update it :).

Well shit .. another couple of weeks slipped by. News, news, news.
Finally got the word out through LvL about my maps - they weren't as enthusiastic as Vendroid at Z-Axis, but they didn't recommend me to Cranky Steve's. Good comments by a few folks, and it looks like I've had a couple of hundred downloads. Links to the reviews are available from my Quake III mapping pages.
New flicks - Being John Malkovich - believe the hype and go check out this flick. Unbelievable that this made it into widespread release. Two years ago, this would've been running the midnight shows for about two weeks. Cusack is slimy, Malkovich is femme, Diaz is unrecognizable, Orson Bean is horny, and Catherine Keener - ouch. I believe the term 'ball-breaker' was invented for her. Totally surreal, and I still don't know if Spike Jonze was making some serious points behind the satire and black humor or if he was satirizing his own satire. A slippery, itchy movie, good for an evening alone with a pot of double-strength coffee.
Books - finished The White Plague by Herbert again. Damn, wow, excellent. Reading it so soon after finishing Dune again, I realized that he even put links to the Dune universe into the book, mainly towards the end. You can see the extension of his ecological/religious/political/social theory and threads to the eventual Butlerian Jihad and the Orange Catholic Bible of the Dune series. Fascinating reading, and fascinating ideas. Highly recommended.
That's it for now - if you're in Dallas on the weekend of May 27 and 28, and you wanna play some SiN, check out the Sinner's Swing 2000 - a good time will be had by all. Now I'm off to mow the yard and fold laundry ..

Oops - got so busy I forgot to update this ..
Finished up Dune - time to start on the next one, but for now, I'm going to knock out a bit more Harris. Reading Silence .. put me in the mood for some criminal justice fiction.
Looks like the next-gen hardware is just around the corner, as everyone and their dog is popping out 3dfx Voodoo5 comparisons, and the GeForce 2 is out of the NDA window. I don't know if I'm even going to mess with this generation of hardware, but I was ROTFLMAO at this ...
Checked out Daikatana, Messiah, and Evolva (warning - Flash-heavy site), as well as the revised, patched Soldier of Fortune demos. Daikatana is pretty much 100% suck, as expected, Messiah is just chunky on my PC, Evolva is looking promising, even being third person, and after checking out the demo again on my GeForce, SoF is probably going to be my next game purchase, unless I get Thief II: The Metal Age beforehand. Still have to look at the System Shock 2 demo - it's had rave reviews from everyone that I know, and it's made by the folks that did Thief and Thief II. It's tough to believe that it wouldn't be good ..
A minor update to the movies page - thanks to Sock from the Ritualistic boards for pointing out the gap. And we've high hopes that a LAN party will materialize on the 27th and 28th of May - the Sinner's Swing 2000. If the page is down, try emailing Ryno(TNT) about it - he'll get the straight dope to you.
Cool artwork/writing/photography/musings - Smog.net. All sorts of stuff for all sorts of tastes, some good, some bad, some offensive, some clean. Personal favorite - Misha Gordin - striking, clean, high impact photography, with some digital manipulation. Dig it, baby ..
And now back to buying a house ...

Just barely, but it is Tuesday. Hot off the presses, a bit of Easter joy, courtesy of Em and Dave, my better halves up in Colorado. Now, wipe that coffee off the monitor and get back to work ...
